pune: the mercedes-benz international school has been served with a summons by the jmfc court, shivajinagar, on saturday. a tenth standard student of the school and her parents had lodged a complaint with the yerwada police on tuesday last, alleging that the school was collecting capitation fees of rs 2 lakh under the guise of a building donation fund.
under the maharashtra educational institutions (prohibition of capitation fee) act, 1987, capitation fees are illegal. after the case came up for hearing in the court of h a s mullah on saturday summons were issued to j ziegler, md and ceo of daimler chrysler india ltd who is also the president of the mercedes-benz education academy, the school''s principal john bastable and r b pendse, company secretary of daimler chrysler india ltd. nestha nanda (16), a class x student along with her father tatwanand nanda had earlier filed a suit in the court of civil judge senior division s n karyakarte on january 18. that case will be heard on february 18. subsequently the nandas filed a complaint at the yerwada police station on the basis of which the jmfc court has issued the summons.
